Do you face hair problems? Do you think it is connected to colouring your hair? If so, do not worry, you have company. It is a well-known fact that hair dye usage could have adverse effects because of the exposure to multiple chemicals and changes due to them.

You need not give up colouring your hair to tackle this issue. The best solution is to start looking for safe hair dye options that have jojoba oil in them. Most of you may have heard about jojoba oil but using it makes your hair soft and healthy.

Jojoba oil is well-known for providing moisture. It is slowly gaining widespread recognition and a lot of loyal consumers. This increasing consumer preference has made jojoba oil a favourite among skin and hair care labels worldwide.

With many of us above 18 years of age widely using hair colours, adding a natural ingredient like jojoba oil in hair dyes makes it an attractive and safe option for everyone to use.

Nothing soothes your skin and hair like jojoba oil!

Jojoba esters are universally used in several cosmetic preparations such as body lotions, face and hand creams, shampoos, lip balms, lipsticks, hair dyes, etc. This is because jojoba oil is softer than other oils and hence melts at a lower temperature making it an ideal ingredient.

Jojoba oil exhibits extraordinary similarity to the natural oils produced by the human skin. It provides long-lasting moisture and improves the general feel of one’s skin. Vitamin E and B along with minerals such as zinc, copper and chromium are present in jojoba oil which helps nourish and protect our skin at the same time.

Jojoba oil is usually chosen for many products and medicines as an emollient due to its high oxidative stability. This oil is best suited for all and even compatible for people with allergy sensitivities.

Being an absolute gem of a moisturising agent, I also find it to be the perfect fit for most of my do-it-yourself (DIY) recipes and tips.

I prefer to purchase and use the organic and unrefined version to get the maximum benefit. The unrefined form of jojoba oil has more nutrients and is effective than refined and processed jojoba oil.

Here’s why you need jojoba oil in your hair colours

Let me explain how our hair reacts when we apply dyes. Our head is filled with many hair shafts. Each shaft is covered with the minute scales of cuticles overlapping each other which look very similar to fish scales or feathers of birds. When you colour your hair, these cuticle scales open up and create gaps for the colour to penetrate and settle. Sometimes, depending on the health and strength of your hair, these gaps will let all vital nutrients and moisture to evaporate and escape.

This might result in dry and frizzy hair, something which we can totally avoid by following these tips. Take the effort and care for your hair. To make the hair look vibrant, feel strong and healthy, we have to ensure that the hair follicles retain moisture. For that, we need to make efforts to keep the hair moisturised all the time. Deep conditioning your hair is one such way of retaining moisture.

Our hair tends to lose moisture when we apply colours. The most effective way to deal with this issue is to choose hair dyes that have jojoba oil in them. It is a well-known emollient and can easily penetrate every part of the hair (i.e.) the shaft, cuticles, follicles, etc. It ensures that the colour and the moisture are locked in. The hair doesn’t become more damaged or frizzy.

All that I gained with using a hair colour with jojoba oil

From my use of jojoba oil-based hair colour, I find it to be beneficial in the following ways:

  • My hair colour lasts for a longer time. I practice swimming as a form of exercise. So, my hair is regularly exposed to the chlorine and other agents found in the pool water. This strips my hair of its colour faster. Jojoba oil in my hair dye helps protect the colour against the elements that cause it to fade. Jojoba oil can also be used as a mist before stepping out for a swim. It moisturizes the hair and makes it more vibrant and shiny.
  • I now have well-hydrated hair. The jojoba oil present in my hair colour and other products seals the cracks present on the hair cuticle surface. Jojoba oil is made of small molecules that penetrate well into the hair follicles and spread the colour evenly. It also hydrates the hair shaft pretty deeply leaving it tangle-free and more manageable.
  • I always had this hesitation when using hair dyes as I assumed that it would lead to severe hair fall. This reluctance of mine was finally put to rest after I started using hair colours with jojoba oil. Jojoba oil is proven to contain hair loss caused by abnormal scalp conditions and/or lack of nutrition. It stimulates hair growth by helping follicles grow new hair. It contains many vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and proteins that are necessary for hair growth. It nourishes the scalp and improves its overall health.
  • Earlier when I was using chemical-based hair dyes, I was faced with the common problem of dry and frizzy hair. It made my hair look completely unhealthy. After I started using hair colours with jojoba oil, the problem has reduced. I now have naturally safe, balanced and healthy hair. Jojoba oil has a very similar molecular structure to sebum, which is an oily secretion of the sebaceous glands present in our body. This feature helps in maintaining a natural balance in the hair and scalp without making it look too oily, thus giving a vibrant and lively look to the coloured hair.
  • When I started using jojoba oil-based hair care products, it became my best available hair protector. It prevents even the slightest chemicals present in hair colours from stripping off the natural oil from my hair.

After using jojoba oil, I can safely say that it provides overall care, conditioning, and moisture, making the hair feel soft, supple and smooth. So, even when colouring your hair, I would definitely recommend choosing hair colours that have natural extracts of jojoba oil in them. Trust me; it will be beneficial for you in the long run.

While you look for hair colours with jojoba oil, also keep in mind to choose hair colours and products that are paraben-free, PPD-free and ammonia-free. The presence of jojoba oil in your hair colour will definitely enhance your hair condition and provide full coverage to your stubborn greys. It will also help protect your hair and give a naturally vibrant and glossy hair post the colouring process.

No more hair woes

We can agree that everyone has their fair share of bad hair days and hair troubles, but there is no need to worry any more. Even a small amount of jojoba oil present in hair colours will do wonders to our hair. Choosing hair products and importantly, hair dyes with jojoba oil in them will be a great addition to our hair care regimen. It gives us an assurance of well-conditioned, shiny and manageable hair. The benefits of choosing hair colours with jojoba oil extracts in them are immense. Engage in beauty treatments without compromising on health!
